EMCC was registered as a society on 21 October 1997 to provide mediation and counseling services to individuals, families and organizations, to organize conferences and to provide training. It was also registered as a charity under the Charities Act, 1994 on 24 November 1998 and recognized as a full member of National Council of Social Service on 7 January 2000. EMCC adheres strictly to the practice standard set by the national body.

EMCC is funded through public donations and is given the privilege to issue double tax exempt to our donors. It also receives project funding from National Council of Social Service.
