FAQ
What is EMCC’s Approach?
- We maintain strict confidentiality within the limits of the Singapore Law and Professional Code of Ethics.
- We respect each person's belief system and spiritual experiences. Counselling at EMCC is secular, unless individual parties choose to rely on their belief systems and religions. In such situations, EMCC may help parties to use them as resources for dealing with their problems.
- We provide a safe environment for people to work through their problems with professional help.
Confidentiality
Most people are understandably concerned about confidentiality when they seek such services. EMCC understands that confidentiality is an integral part of establishing the trust necessary to effectively treat clients.
Please read the forms you are presented with on your first visit in order to understand the legal limits of confidentiality and the professional code of ethics. Confidentiality issues should be discussed with your Counsellor.
What to Expect?
EMCC offers a number of therapeutic opportunities to clients. The individualised care provided begins with the initial phone call to the Centre’s Intake Administrator.
When you first call the Centre at +65 67888220, the Intake Administrator will make a mutually suitable appointment for you if deemed suitable.
When you arrive at the Centre for your first visit, you will be requested to complete a simple form. This provides important information to the Centre about your history, your family, and your current concerns.
When you first meet with a Counsellor, he or she will ask about your reasons for seeking help in order to understand how to provide the most effective help in your situation. Some clients find it very reassuring by simply relating their issues to the counsellor. You will then establish a customised plan with your counsellor to determine the number of visits to make to the Centre. When necessary, your counsellor may refer you for other forms of consultation or other therapeutic processes that will be beneficial to you.
Some clients seek guidance with regards to particular issues, while others approach counselling as a primary means to self-awareness and personal growth.
All our counsellors at EMCC are qualified professionals with advanced training.
